As it is written in the scriptures, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” This is clear instructions to fathers and mothers to raise (train) their children in the way that they should go.

As the title of the article says “Misrepresentation of Fatherhood” is what a recent film has done when trying to portray fatherhood in action. In a story of a man who lost his wife while she was giving birth to his daughter, goes on and continues as a single father to the child. Two factors come to play in this film that can lead to confusion.

When the girl is older she gets enrolled into a school where the policy is they must wear a dress at school. After the daughter was told to wear a skirt instead of the pants she told her father and said it’s because it’s a rule. His response to her was, “Rules? We don’t need no stinkin’ rules.”


Proverbs 22:6 (KJV) Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

“Rules? We don’t need no stinkin’ rules.”

Towards the end when his daughter was allowed to wear pants at school, he decides that he would wear a dress while she gets to school in pants as he drops her off.


Deuteronomy 22:5 (KJV) The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so [are] abomination unto YAHUAH your Mighty One
